Landslides in West Bandung, Residents' Clean Water Supply is Hampered

FaktaId. Landslides occur at six points in the Parongong area, West Bandung Regency, due to high intensity rain that flushed from Friday to Sunday. Landslides are located in five RWs that are in the Ciwaruga Village area.

The landslide disaster occurred in RW 8, 5, 7, 20 and 6. Monitoring at the site on Monday, the most severe landslide hit RW 7 because it resulted in interrupted access. At present, a number of meters from the landslide point have been installed which indicates that the road is prohibited by vehicles.

Uus (40), a resident of RT 1 RW 7, said that the landslide in RW 7, besides causing interrupted road access, also hampered clean water supplies for residents because the water pipeline was buried by rubble.

"The villagers' water is disrupted because the pipes are buried," he said at the location.

Uus said that the West Bandung Regency BPBD officer this morning had directly visited the disaster site. Currently, he continued, officers assisted by local residents worked together to tidy up the damaged road foundation. One piece of machine is lowered.

"The foundation will be tidied up again. Use heavy equipment. The machine is only one," Uus said.

Kasi Kesra of Ciwaruga Village Usep Saepudin explained that his office would assign the Chairman of RW 7 to communicate with housing developers to immediately replace the damaged water pipeline.

"Later I suggest coordinating with the developer. But I have already assigned the RW head to communicate with the developer. At the most, he will replace the damaged pipe," Usep said.

Head of West Bandung Regency BPBD Duddy Prabowo said the officers had been sent to the location to use the assessment while ensuring the impact of the landslide disaster there.

"The officers are still in the field conducting the assessment. We are still waiting for the results of the assessment to be like, whether the impact is widespread or not," Duddy said briefly through a telephone connection.
